101 People Counted as Homeless in West Hollywood During 2025 LAHSA Survey

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) has released preliminary data from its 2025 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count. The agency reports that 79 individuals in West Hollywood were found to be experiencing homelessness, with an additional 22 living in vehicles, tents, or makeshift shelters.

That’s a rise from 2024, when LAHSA counted 67 individuals on the street and 9 in vehicles or other temporary dwellings. Regionwide, the total count was 72,308.

The City of West Hollywood continues to respond with a range of strategies aimed at both preventing and reducing homelessness. The West Hollywood Homeless Initiative, led by the city’s Human Services Division, coordinates outreach, case management, and housing services in partnership with local nonprofits, county agencies, and community organizations.

Since 2016, 367 unhoused individuals in West Hollywood have been placed in permanent housing, including 72 over the past year. The city also distributed more than 2,400 rental assistance grants during that same period to help residents stay housed.

This fall, the city plans to open the Holloway Interim Housing Program, a new shelter and service hub located at the former Holloway Motel. Set to open in September 2025, the facility will offer up to 90 days of temporary housing and support for individuals transitioning into permanent housing. The site will be operated by Ascencia, a nonprofit specializing in homeless services.

More information about West Hollywood’s homeless response can be found at weho.org/homeless, and details about the new Holloway facility are available at weho.org/holloway.

I’m not shocked it has increased. We don’t enforce our laws around public camping. I’ve noticed a notable increase myself in the volume in our city.

Holloway house is going to be awesome. Everything they need on one block. Pot across the street and easy shoplifting at CVS on the corner.

Oh, look, after spending millions of taxpayer dollars the numbers go up! I guess finally somebody counted in the light instead of our council members colluding to count in the dark and fool with numbers. Our leadership is inept. Vote different in 2026. Your vote matters -get informed. The clowns that have been running the show for years have squandered our taxpayer dollars and have done nothing to fix the problem. They let the mentally ill and the drug addicts and the alcoholics wander the streets sleeping in their own filth, eating out of garbage cans. They fill our libraries,… Read more »

I guess the Sepi Shyne and John Erickson way of counting has been replaced with actual mathematics. Yes, after years of the city council telling us the homeless in West Hollywood was a figment of our imagination and we didn’t have a homeless problem real numbers don’t lie.
