Floki the Cat Taken by Delivery Driver in West Hollywood, Neighbors Seek Help

A beloved West Hollywood cat was stolen in broad daylight, and the incident was caught on camera. Now, neighbors and the pet’s family are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person responsible.

The cat, named Floki, is a 6-year-old Savannah/Highlander mix known for his friendly nature. He lives with his owner near Shoreham Drive, just off Sunset Boulevard. Surveillance footage shared by neighbors shows a man — believed to be a food delivery driver — interacting with Floki before picking him up, placing him in the trunk of a dark-colored Prius, and driving away.

The incident occurred on Saturday, September 27. Despite having video of the encounter, residents have been unable to determine which delivery app the man was working for or which household received the food delivery, making it difficult to trace his identity.

The car’s license plate is not clearly visible in the footage, leaving few leads. Floki’s family, who confirmed the cat is microchipped, is urging anyone who may recognize the man or have additional information to come forward.

It remains unclear why the driver took the cat — whether it was a deliberate act or a misunderstanding. Some speculate he may have thought Floki was a stray.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local authorities or respond to the contact number shared in the original Nextdoor post.

The driver who took the cat saw the online posts & brought the cat back. P.S. A Prius doesn’t have a trunk. So Floki was comfortable in the compartment behind the front seats & enjoying sightseeing out the window.

How strange. Where are the cops?

If this cat had a collar tag with a owner’s name, the cat probably wouldn’t have been taken. Hope someone can identify the driver and have Floki returned.

Perhaps don’t let your cats outside? They very negatively impact native bird populations. They also are prey to coyotes and large birds of prey such as owls. If you let your cats outside, you’re ultimately accepting the risks of doing so.

That seems like a drastic solution.
