Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau are asking for the public’s help as they continue investigating an incident that led to the arrest of Elmer Mercado, 42, in West Hollywood on suspicion of child molestation.

Deputies from the West Hollywood Station responded on October 21, 2025, to the 1000 block of Havenhurst Drive after two juveniles reported that a man followed them and assaulted one of them as they walked.

Mercado was taken into custody shortly after the report and booked. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed two misdemeanor counts — 647.6(a)(1) PC, annoying or molesting a minor.
He remains in custody on $100,000 bail pending a future court date.

Cops now believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. The Special Victims Bureau, which investigates cases involving sexual abuse of children and felony sexual assaults, is urging anyone with information to reach out.

Community members who wish to share information can contact the Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-5273 or email specialvictimsbureau@lasd.org.
Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), through the P3 Tips mobile app, or online at lacrimestoppers.org.

Deport him to South Sudan. We need to get all of these illegals out of the country. There are enough perverts in WH without allowing more.
