WeHo Shows Up: Community Open House and Volunteer Fair Returns to Plummer Park

If you’ve ever wondered where to find help, advice, or a way to get involved, the City of West Hollywood wants to make it easy.  On Thursday, November 13, from 10 a.m. to noon, the city’s Human Services Division will host its annual Community Provider Open House and Volunteer Fair at Plummer Park’s Community Center, 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard.

The event brings together many of the city’s nonprofit and social service partners in one place.  Attendees can explore resources, meet the people behind the programs, and discover ways to volunteer or support others in the community.

While providers are listed by their main service area, many offer additional services that go beyond those categories. Among those participating:

Health and Mental Health: WeHo Cares Team, Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, Men’s Health Foundation, Maple Counseling Center, LA LGBT Center, and Jewish Family Service (JFS) Comprehensive Services Center.

Food and Nutrition: JFS Nutrition, JFS SOVA, Project Angel Food, Seeds of Hope (Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles), and World Harvest.

Legal, Advocacy, and Rights: Bet Tzedek’s WeHo Project and Eviction Defense, CES, and LA LGBT Center Legal Services.

Substance Use Recovery and Harm Reduction: APLA Health, Awakening Recovery Inc., Being Alive, Defense Diagnostic, LA LGBT Center, WeHo Life, Health Care in Action, LA CADA, and Rainbow Hill Enterprise LLC.

Financial Assistance: National Council of Jewish Women and APLA Health.

Disability and Older Adult Services: Disability Community Resource Center and LA LGBT Center Senior Services.

Housing, Shelter, and Workforce Development: LA LGBT Center Youth Services, Housing Works + CoC, Community Bridge Housing, Ascencia, JVS SoCal’s WeHo Works, Pathways, TransLatin@ Coalition, and Van Ness Recovery.

Transportation Services: Ambiance and the City’s Transportation Programs.

Also in attendance will be the City’s Human Services Commissioners at a booth with information about how to get involved directly in civic and community life.

West Hollywood has long been a city that shows up for one another.  We shine when we help others, and this event is a great opportunity to learn how to volunteer, support a neighbor in need, or simply discover what’s available if you ever need a helping hand yourself.  The message is simple: if you need support, West Hollywood is here for you.

The event is free and open to everyone, no RSVP needed.
