‘He Just Hopped In’: West Hollywood Couple Confronts Stranger Who Climbed Into Their Car

A routine stop for gas in West Hollywood turned into a frightening few seconds for Star and Mike Carter, a moment caught on security video and first reported by KABC 7.

Apparently, the couple was filling up their Alfa Romeo before heading to a comedy show at the Hollywood Improv when a man they did not know climbed into the back seat of their car.

Video from the station’s security camera shows the split-second chaos that followed.  Star was having none of that nonsense and yanked the guy out of the car which sent him stumbling to the ground.

“I had to remove him from my vehicle,” she told KABC 7, which first aired the footage. “I went into a motherly instinct and told him, ‘Don’t ever do something like this again.’”

Her husband, momentarily tangled in his seatbelt, could only watch. “She just grabbed him and pulled him out,” Mike said. “I knew she was strong, but wow.”

The Carters said they’d noticed the man earlier near another pump but assumed he’d moved on. When Mike climbed back in and fastened his seatbelt, the man slipped into the rear seat before they could react.

Star said it was obvious the stranger was under the influence of something. “It’s an eye-opener,” she said. “I have two daughters who drive. You just have to stay aware out there.”

The man eventually walked away. The couple wasn’t injured, but the encounter left them shaken and, in Star’s words, oddly reflective.

“I call it Hollywood therapy,” she joked.

Deputies told WEHOonline no report was filed, calling it just another strange moment in WeHo.
