Legendary musician and music industry vet Peter Asher put his signature to a larger-than-life Gibson Guitar titled “British Invasion” at the Sunset Strip Market on Thursday night.
“British Invasion” is one in a line of guitars that are on display along the legendary music boulevard. In 1973, Asher was a partner in the opening of the Roxy Theater in West Hollywood.
You might know him as one half of the 1960s pop duo Peter and Gordon. Or you might know him as the hugely successful record producer; he was smart enough to first sign James Taylor, and he also produced records for J.D. Souther, Andrew Gold, Bonnie Raitt, Cher, and 10,000 Maniacs, just to name a few.
He has twice been honored with the Grammy’s “Producer of the Year” honor.
Here’s are some scenes from the signing, and festivities at the Sunset Strip Market.
