Interior Design magazine has named the West Hollywood Library and Municipal Garage “Best of Year” in the institutional project/library category in its 2012 design awards.

Johnson Favaro and interior designer Carol Cambianica, the project’s architectural firm and interior designer, also were recognized. Winners were chosen by the publication’s editor in chief, Cindy Allen, and a jury of design leaders. Projects completed between September 2011 and August 2012 were eligible to compete for the award. The LEED Gold-certified, 32,000-square foot library opened its doors to the public on Oct. 1, 2011, and it has since become one of the most popular libraries in the Los Angeles County Public Library System.

I am not surprised about the award. It’s wonderful. My favorite part: the huge picture window on the second floor near the periodicals looking north into the Hollywood Hills. Incredible view. A great job of creating a huge park plus a cutting-edge library facility. My hats off to Johnson Favaro for the plan.
