A Reality TV Restaurant and a Refuge for Rover
[hr]
On the east side, the block comes to an end at Melrose with Chrome Hearts, a store that retails Richard Stark’s biker/goth jewelry and apparel to the likes of Lou Reed, Britney Spears, Jay-Z, Elton John, Ashlee Simpson, Lenny Kravitz and Cher.
But it’s the penultimate stop, reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump’s Sur Restaurant and Bar, arguably the most Beverly Hillian place on this block of North Robertson, that gets the most attention. Walled off from the street by lush greenery and a large antique door, Sur boasts a large garden for outdoor dining and a clientele that includes Kim Kardashian and her friends. Entrees range from $19 to $34 (roasted North Atlantic wild salmon is $26). The lounge is a mix of old railway sleepers, modern glass tile, chandeliers in cages and antique leather Chesterfields. One of the fun things about Sur is trying to suss out who on the sexy staff is sleeping with who, an issue raised by Vanderpump in a trailer for January’s “Vanderpump Rules” on Bravo. The restaurant is open 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. nightly. The bar offers inexpensive drinks ($5 for Sangria) during happy hour, which is 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights. The other corner of Robertson is anchored by VCA, the animal hospital — the place to take a dog who has been injured in a fall from one of those expensive Duroque dog beds.

The expedition over, it’s time to retrieve your car from the lot next to Bossa Nova and drive back into the less glamorous world of everyday WeHo, knowing that a night of dancing with the stars, an afternoon of trying on and rejecting shoes priced higher than your monthly rent and a splurge for a manicure and pedicure that will require postponing your car payment for a month, are never more than a short drive (or even walk) away.
