Cabaret joint/piano bar Don’t Tell Mama opens tonight (Feb. 26) in West Hollywood, offering up a temporary group of performers from its iconic New York stable.
Singers and pianists from the 30-year-old NYC Don’t Tell Mama, many with Broadway credentials, have flown to LA to perform at the newly opened WeHo version. Those performers will also assist with auditions and mentoring as musical director Ryan O’Connor puts together an LA staff.
Performers tonight include: Tara Moran, Tommy Dose, Jon Satrom, Laura Pavles, Lauren Turner, Alaina Mills, and pianists Erik and Greg James.
DTM representatives say that the new venue will host performers and guests from “Smash,” “Glee,” “American Idol,” and the touring companies in residence at local theatrical houses The Pantages, Ahmanson and REDCAT.
The venue, at Santa Monica Blvd. and Sweetzer, serves up dinner and a nightly show.
Formerly O-Bar, the renovated space includes a dining room for 50 — serving up American cuisine — a bar with original cocktails, beer and wine, and a piano bar with bar-side seating.
Shows run from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Don’t Tell Mama opens at 4 p.m. for happy hour, which runs until 7 p.m. Dinner is served at 7 p.m.
