A taste of Napa Valley and the Central Coast has come to West Hollywood.
V wine room, at 903 Westbourne Dr. at Santa Monica, offers wine and beer tasting, and boasts that many of its wines come from boutique winemakers who primarily sell through their individual tasting rooms in Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
The bar is housed in a Spanish-style building that was once home to the first West Hollywood Library. It was also formerly the Charlie Chaplin and Nina Foch Actors studios.
V co-founder Michael Consbruck is a Nebraska transplant who moved to the area in 2001 to pursue a career in writing. After publishing a few textbooks, he returned to school at UCLA, and earned a degree in landscape architecture and urban planning. He currently owns and operates his own firm, MCLA, in WeHo.
In between projects, he took up California viniculture as a hobby, and became a certified sommelier.
Co-founder Mario Escalona has focused on business development for travel and tourism companies and managed events and tours to wine-producing regions.
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday.
