In “The Soundtrack of My Life,” Clive Davis, whose illustrious career as an executive with Columbia, Arista, BMB, J Records and Sony record labels made him a legend in the recording industry, talks about his close affiliations with music luminaries, such as Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Sly Stone, Patti Smith, Aretha Franklin, Santana, Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys.
The book, co-written with “Rolling Stone” contributing editor Anthony DeCurtis, takes readers from his boyhood in Brooklyn to his ascent in the music world, and is chock-full of the advice he gave artists along the way. He also includes in the final chapter the revelations that his is bisexual.
Currently involved with another man, Davis writes,”but I never stopped being attracted to women. Bisexuality is misunderstood; the adage is that you’re either straight or gay or lying, but that’s not my experience. To call me anything other than bisexual would be inaccurate.”
Davis has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, and has hosted some of the world’s highest profile parties.
The book signing will take place at Book Soup, located at 8818 Sunset Blvd., east of San Vicente.
The event starts at 4 p.m. and is free.
