The Creative City Could Produce An Arbor Day “Bicycle Tape”. Municipal Access Cable TV channels across the nation would be pleased to show it. Trees make such a difference! Some jurisdictions permit the electric utility to take down trees willy-nilly. Let WEHO lead the way in lifting consciousness regarding urban trees.

I also suggest tree planting throughout the city (and in private yards). It would make a wonderful citywide event. Maybe next year we can do that. Make Arbor Day into an occasion for a uniquely WeHo “holiday”.

Arbor Day – the day we honor and plant trees. The act of tree planting is an old and symbolic one. Trees provide habitats for birds and small animals, they give us shade, clean the air and offer shelter. ‘Comments are made by fools like me – but only God can make a tree’ – to paraphrase Walt Whitman. Whether you believe God or Mother Nature can make a tree, the needless destruction of trees, especially old growth trees is symbolic of disrespect. Plant trees, please don’t chop them down.
