The West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor five local businesses with its Economic Development awards at the chamber’s annual State of the City luncheon on June 26.
The businesses are:
Authentic. A marketing firm owned by Liam J. Lynch, Authentic produces the city’s annual Halloween Carnaval and its annual book fair. Other Authentic clients have included Verizon, Guinness, Time Warner Cable, Lufthansa and Allergan.
Cabo Cantina. Michael Bezerra’s Mexican-themed restaurant at 8301 Sunset Blvd. opened in 2003. His Sunset Management Group also operates the Sunset Trocadero and Fiesta Cantina.
Koontz Hardware. Founded in1938 and operated by Russ Wilson, Koontz is one of only a handful of hardware stores in West Hollywood and offers more than 100,000 items ranging from paint and tools to housewares.
LASC. Don Zuidema, Michael McGinley, and Alfredo Izaguirre founded LASC in 1983 as a small store next door to the Sports Connection gym on Santa Monica Boulevard. Five years later they moved 8592 Santa Monica Blvd. where they specialize in apparel targeting gay men. They also have their own branded apparel line.
Vanity Girl Hollywood. Maxine Tatlonghari’s sells online lighted Hollywood-style makeup mirrors like the ones seen backstage at runway show sor in the dressing rooms of celebrities.
The chamber State of the City event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Fiesta Hall at Plummer Park. Tickets are $75 for chamber members and $125 for non-members. For more information, visit the chamber website.
