awolnationAwolnation and Wale, along with a number of other bands, will join Linkin Park for performances at this year’s Sunset Strip Music Festival, event organizers announced Wednesday.

The festival, now in its sixth year, is a premier concert along Sunset Boulevard between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard, and includes two outdoor stages, beer gardens, an artist autograph tent, an outdoor VIP rooftop lounge, silent disco, VIP Lounge at On The Rox, food trucks and interactive experiences.

“This year’s street festival features bands Linkin Park, Awolnation, Asher Roth and Street Drum Corps, whose careers began performing in Sunset Strip venues. We look forward to welcoming these artists back as they perform in front of thousands of fans on the music boulevard’s largest stage,” said festival co-producer and Roxy owner Nic Adler.

Awolnation is an electronic rock band formed and fronted by Aaron Bruno, formerly of Under the Influence of Giants, Hometown Hero and Insurgence. The band released its first EP, Back from Earth, on iTunes on May 18, 2010. The album features hits “Sail,” “Not Your Fault” and “Kill Your Heros.”

Organizers also announced that Black Rebel, Motorcycle Club, Logic, Slick Rick/Doug E. Fresh, Asher Roth, Finch and Street Drum Corps will perform.

In addition to the two outdoor stages on the Strip, venues inside the street festival closure – including The Roxy, Whisky A Go-Go and a special outdoor Viper Room stage — will feature full lineups throughout the day and into the night, including performances by Warren G. and Bizarre Ride, featuring Fatlip and Slimkid3, at the Roxy, and Orgy at the Whisky.

On Thursday, Aug. 1, the three-day music festival will kick off with an awards presentation for Jett, who will then perform alongside the Blackhearts at the House of Blues. West Hollywood also is naming Thursday, Aug. 1 “Joan Jett Day.”

The festival gets underway with the tribute to Jett on Thursday, followed by more shows Friday. Linkin Park, the Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum California rock band, will headline the street festival with a performance on Saturday.
