“One Night in Miami” tracks the night after Cassius Clay’s defeat of Sonny Liston in the world heavyweight boxing championships. The win came so unexpected that there was no celebration planned. Clay’s three not-yet-legendary friends, activist Malcolm X, singer Sam Cooke, and football player Jim Brown, throw him a party in a small hotel. The next morning, Clay makes an announcement that will shock the world. “One Night in Miami” explores what happened that night and how it influenced the rest of his career, including his name change to Muhammed Ali.
