The award-winning documentary “Nicky’s Family,” opens at the Laemmle Royal Theater, 11523 Santa Monica Blvd. and Colby. “Nicky’s Family” tells the story of Sir Nicholas Winton, a young Englishman who rescued 669 Jewish Czech and Slovak children before the beginning of World War II. Winton never spoke of what he did, and his deeds may have remained unknown if his wife had not recently uncovered a suitcase in the attic full of documents and transport plans. Award-winning producers Patrik Pass and Matej Minac have reconstructed the story of Winton’s heroic actions. Tickets, $11, and more information online.
