Sarah Ruhl’s script navigates Victorian Age society and characters trying to relate to one another beyond shallow chitchat over tea. Ruhl uses the simple device of the vibrator to open up discussions of gender, intimacy, desperation and love. The play opens Friday, Oct. 4 at The Theatre Lounge, at 6201 Santa Monica Blvd. at El Centro in Hollywood. The play will run through Oct. 13, with showings at 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 7 p.m. Sundays.
