In recognition of National Coming Out Day, observed on Oct. 11, West Hollywood is sponsoring a video project that will showcase coming out stories from 50 denizens of WeHo, each hailing from a different home state.

“By depicting the coming out stories of community members from all 50 states, the city will further the message that members of the LGBT community around the country are not alone and that they, too, can find the courage to come out,” the staff report stays.

According to the report, the videos will also air on WeHoTV, will be promoted on social media and will be compiled for use “online and at various locations around the city.”

The city will arrange for the taping of interviews with the project’s volunteers, said Michelle Rex, deputy for Councilmember John D’Amico, who sponsored the agenda item.

“It is important for the city of West Hollywood to commemorate National Coming Out Day, particularly in light of the recent events in Russia, as a leader in the area of LGBT rights,” Rex said.
