Just months after high-end Chinese eatery Chi Lin opened its doors on the Sunset Strip, heralded executive chef Yujean Kang has abruptly departed.
Prior to joining Chi Lin, Kang owned along with his wife a Pasadena restaurant that bore his name. That restaurant, which he owned for more than 20 years, closed in 2012. Kang’s return to the restaurant scene was highlighted in a Los Angeles Magazine q-and-a just two months ago.
Alexandra Stanley, a representative for Innovative Dining Group (IDG), which owns Chi Lin, declined to comment on the reason for Yang’s departure.
IDG issued a news release Tuesday touting Chi Lin’s new executive chef, 2008 “Iron Chef America” alum Tyson Wong Ophaso.
Ophaso’s past culinary ventures include Chinatown Brasserie in New York (where he was attacked by three men in 2006), Domaine Restaurant Group in California and the Tyson Bee’s food truck in Philadelphia and King & I Thai Cuisine in Atlanta.
Do you know where Yujean Kang has moved?
