Khatuna Lorig of West Hollywood was part of the two-member U.S. team that won the silver medal in the recurve mixed team competition today at the World Archery Championships in Belek-Antalya, Turkey.

Lorig and teammate Brady Ellison of Chula Vista lost to top-seeded South Korea, 148-139. The U.S. was seeded sixth in the 16-team field.

It defeated 11th-seeded Spain, third-seeded Russia and second-seeded Mexico to reach the final.
The medal was the 39-year-old Lorig’s first at a world championship.

Lorig is a five-time Olympian who won a bronze medal in the team event in 1992, competing for the Unified Team, as the team representing 12 of the republics of the former Soviet Union was known. She taught Jennifer Lawrence how to shoot for the film “The Hunger Games.”
