West Hollywood’s City Council has approved a three-year pilot program with MV Transportation to provide door-to-door transit service for people who cannot use the city’s Dial A Ride transit service.
With the city’s increasingly aging and frail population, many need help getting from their home to a car. The “TLC” door-to-door service provides an attendant to help people get up or down any steps and in and out of its vehicle. Attendants also deliver packages.
The Dallas-based MV Transportation is also provides the city’s Dial A Ride service, which offers free curb to curb transportation for residents 62 and older and disabled of any age. The service runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The city will pay $226,695 for the service. Funding will come through an agreement for the city to be a “sub-recipient” of an LA Metro grant of Federal New Freedom funds.
The door-to-door service is expected to launch in November and have a 30-month trial period.
