A gay WeHo man and his partner filed a human rights complaint Monday against a Chicago-area taxi company because a taxi-driver tried to kick them out of his cab after they kissed, according to Reuters.
Filed by gay advocacy group Lambda Legal, the complaint from Steven White, 29, of West Hollywood, and Matthew McCrea, 30, of Chicago was submitted to the Illinois Department of Human Rights and asks for unspecified compensation.
The couple says they exchanged a brief kiss in the back of the cab before the driver pulled over on a busy expressway and told them to get out. When they refused, the driver began driving recklessly, stopped in a store parking lot and waited until police arrived, at which time an officer helped the couple find another cab.
The driver was later fined by the city and fired by Sun Taxi.
Illinois lawmakers are currently considering allowing gay marriage.
