[dropcap]Q. [/dropcap]Where does the Hollywood earthquake fault go in West Hollywood?
[dropcap]A.[/dropcap] The map released last week by the state Geologic Survey only covers a limited area (the Geologic Survey is seeking money to map more of the fault). It shows an earthquake zone 500 feet wide, extending from Atwater Village and Los Feliz on the east through central Hollywood and then to West Hollywood. The good news, for West Hollywood at least, is that the Hollywood earthquake fault only begins to approach WeHo when it crosses Laurel Avenue, at which point it dips south. The fault zone then covers Sunset Boulevard, a major commercial and entertainment center and the site of many proposed developments, until the map (not the fault line) ends near Doheny on the west. The zone covers a number of residential buildings to the north and south of Sunset Boulevard as well as the commercial buildings along it.
The CGS map closely matches one prepared for the City of West Hollywood in 2010 by KFM GeoScience of Diamond Bar as part of an update to the city’s master plan.
Would never ever wish that, roger. You are not thinking of the innocent victims of such a disaster.
I hope it’s a 10.0
Sodom and Gommorah had it good compared to what Hollywood deserves.
