Gay singer-songwriter, Eli Lieb, is a new artist making waves on YouTube. He first reached YouTube fame with hit covers “Born to Die” and “Wrecking Ball,” and solidified his mark as an artist with his original songs, “Young Love” and “Place of Paradise.”
Originally from Iowa (complete with All-American good looks), Lieb now resides in Los Angeles and continues to write songs and perform covers on his popular YouTube channel.
Lieb’s music video for his original song, “Young Love” (starring the sexy Aaron Milo from Eating Out fame), is one of few that feature the love between two men so openly and nonchalantly. It certainly surprised us in its prideful take on love when we first came across it.
In an interview with TheBackLot.com, Lieb describes his experience as an out artist representing the gay community as such:
…I’m very comfortable with who I am and very proud of who I am and I wouldn’t change it at all…I feel really happy with being able to help people in the gay community who might be struggling with stuff, and I know that being as open as I am, it would help people who might be struggling. That definitely had an influence on me when I was younger.
I have no interest in playing into the idea that you have to hide your sexuality for your career. If there’s anyone around me who says that, I’m not going to work with them. The way to make real change is not to play into that fear. I’m happy to represent the gay community in that way.
