The design options offered in the poll were “rainbow stripes, rainbow handkerchief paisley, a design inspired by the Castro Theatre foyer tiles and a design inspired by the Muni overhead catenary wires.”

The Streetscape Improvement District hopes to have the new crosswalks painted and sidewalks widened and lighting improved in time for October’s San Francisco Gay Pride parade. West Hollywood created rainbow-colored crosswalks at the intersection of San Vicente and Santa Monica boulevards almost two years ago at a cost of $80,000.
