The City of West Hollywood has opened the application process for its for its Youth Scholarship Program. The West Hollywood Youth Scholarship Program was established in 2007 to encourage and support high-school seniors and recent GED recipients to pursue their education beyond high school. The program is open to all residents of the City of West Hollywood who are graduating from high school or receiving their GED and who plan to pursue post-secondary education.
The Youth Scholarship Program requires that recipients perform at least 150 hours of community service prior to receiving scholarship funds. The scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,500 each and may be used for any expenses incurred in the pursuit of post-secondary education (including college or accredited trade/vocational school). Since the inception of the program, 24 young adults have received scholarships. The program is sponsored by the City of West Hollywood; scholarship funds, however, come entirely from individual and community donations.
Applications, program information, and guidelines are available online. Hard-copy applications are also available at West Hollywood City Hall, located at 8300 Santa Monica Blvd. at Sweetzer. Completed applications are due by April 30. For more information about the Youth Scholarship Program, contact Corey Roskin at (323) 848-6403 or [email protected].
