West Hollywood’s DBA has lured “For the Record” away from Rockwell in Loz Feliz, bringing to WeHo a popular event that brings the films of Quentin Tarantino to life with performances of their songs.

Rumer Willis will appear at the opening on Thursday, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of “Pulp Fiction,” a Quentin Tarantino film starring her father Bruce, whose songs are among those that will be performed.  Music from some of Tarantino‘s best known films also will be performed at DBA, whose name means “doing business as.”

DBA is located in the space at 7969 Santa Monica Blvd. near North Hayworth that formerly was occupied by Voyeur. Voyeur was an upscaled, bondage-themed nightclub inspired, according to founder David Koral, by the movie “Eyes Wide Shut.” It gained notoriety in 2010 when it was revealed that members of the Republican National Committee spent almost $2,000 there in one wild night.

DBA is owned by Cardiff Giant, whose partners Michael Jay and Beau Laughlin also own the Hudson at 1114 N. Crescent Heights Blvd. at Santa Monica as well as the Churchill and Clover Juice Bar. It opened last fall with a series of performances curated by Simon Hammerstein, whose The Box in New York City and London has been described as New York’s “hottest freak show.” It is seen by local observers of the entertainment scene as a space capable of attracting a diverse and upscale nightlife crowd to the east end of West Hollywood’s Santa Monica Boulevard, whose only major nightlife destination has been Bar Lubitsch.

DBA has room for 220 people as opposed to the 60 who can sit in the bar area at Rockwell and can offer tiered seating and space for more musicians.

In addition to Rumer Willis, others performing include Janel Parish of “Pretty Little Liars,” Lindsey Gort of “The Carrie Diaries” and Tracie Thoms, who performed in Tarantino’s “Death Proof.”

The show opens at 7 p.m. and will run Thursdays through Sundays. Tickets can be purchased online at DBAHollywood.com and ForTheRecordLive.com.
