The 5th Annual Indie Series Awards, which celebrates the best in independently produced and scripted entertainment created for the web, includes eight LGBT series on WEHOville’s gTV list of “must see” gay web series along with two others.
The Indie Series Awards ceremony, known as the Indie Soap Awards from 2009 to 2013, will for the first time be staged in Los Angeles rather than New York City. It will be at the El Portal Theatre this coming Wednesday, with the doors opening at 8 p.m. Tickets, $49 and $59, are available online or by calling the El Portal directly at (818) 508-4200.

Judges include:
- Colleen Broomall, the editor-in-chief of Popstar! magazine, who still acts occasionally, most recently appearing in The Winning Season with Rooney Mara and Sam Rockwell.
- Michele Kanan, creator of Flip Creative, a film and television production company. She co-hosts the internet radio show, Kanan’s Rules, every Wednesday with her husband, actor Sean Kanan.
- Christine Lakin, who made her film debut at age 11 in TNT’s The Rose and The Jackal. Lakin voices multiple roles on FOX’s Family Guy, most notably as news anchor “Joyce Kinney.” She will be appearing in the upcoming zombie comedy web series Acting Dead.
- Scott McKinsey, winner of several coveted directorial awards from the DGA and Daytime Emmys, who made his New Media directorial debut as part of the Miss Behave team, earning an Indie Series Award nomination. He is the winner of six Daytime Emmy awards for Directing, two DGA awards for Directing, two Daytime Emmy awards for Editing, plus numerous nominations from both organizations.
- Jamie Snow, of Bullock & Snow Casting, partner to Krisha Bullock, has cast television series such as Nickelodeon’s iCarly, Victorious, and currently the newest series for Nickelodeon, Sam & Cat. She has also cast the pilots The Mayor of Mars (aka Henry Danger), Gibby, as well as independent features including By God’s Grace which is scheduled for a holiday 2014 release.
- Anthony Turk, a Hollywood publicist responsible for the public images of many talented television and film personalities including Justin Chon (Revenge of the Green Dragons, 21 & Over), Sharna Burgess (Dancing With The Stars), Ed Begley, Jr. (Family Tree), Sean Kanan (General Hospital), Eugenia Kuzmina (Fading Gigolo, Fury) and Eva La Rue (CSI:Miami). His brands include Whitening Lightning, Nature’s Flavors and Keeki Pure & Simple.
