If you spot a few hundred guys and gals in yesterday’s clothes walking along the Sunset Strip Sunday afternoon, you’ll be right in assuming that they’re making the “walk of shame.” But in this case it won’t be that proverbial tired march home after a night of partying. This “walk of shame,” which benefits the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, is really meant to emphasize that there’s no shame in sex, so long as you know your HIV status, talk about it, and use a condom.
The West Hollywood Walk of Shame Bar Crawl, which will include a scavenger hunt, will take participants to five bars. It all starts at noon at Rock N Reilly’s at 8911 Sunset Blvd., where participants check in and can get free HIV/STD testing. The other stops are the Belmont, 747 N. La Cienega Blvd.; State Social House, 8782 Sunset Blvd.; and then a march south to Barney’s Beanery, 8447 Santa Monica Blvd., followed by a stop at Fatty’e Public House at 829 N. La Cienega. Smeared lipstick, missing socks, wrinkled shirts and messy hair are encouraged.
Teams of four or more people are encouraged for the bar crawl’s social media scavenger hunt, where participants will get points for missions including taking pictures with AHF advertising, presenting a hand stamp showing that the participant took a free HIV/STD test, or making a human pyramid (with bonus points if the top person is taking a drink). The winning team could win up to $500 in gift cards from the participating bars, which are all a stone’s throw from West Hollywood’s iconic Sunset Strip.
More information on the event, which is designed to benefit the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, and team registration are available online.
There is no shame in having a one-night stand as long as you use a condom, but take a pill and you obviously must spend all of your time in a motel with all the other drugs you take since you “party.”
