“Jeff and I have worked together for many years on the concerns our neighborhoods share,” Garcetti said in a statement released by Prang’s campaign. “As a member of the West Hollywood City Council, Prang has continually shown an ability to craft creative, progressive and fiscally-responsible solutions to city problems.”
“I am proud to have earned the support of Mayor Garcetti,” Prang said. “Mayor Garcetti and I have worked together for many years and share a common vision of creating innovative, efficient and responsive government. As Assessor, I will bring the same creative and effective leadership to the County that I have as a West Hollywood Council member, making West Hollywood a model of government efficiency and effectiveness.”
Among those who have endorsed Prang are Zev Yaroslavsky, Los Angeles County’s Third District Supervisor; SIEU Local 721, the union that represents Los Angeles County public service workers and others in counties across Southern California, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, former zssessors Kenneth Hahn and Rick Auerbach, and State Controller John Chiang
“I am gratified that the support I am receiving from the community and elected leaders continues to grow,” Prang said. “We are doubling our efforts – meeting voters and presenting my vision for the Assessor’s office. I am proud of my endorsement by Mayor Garcetti and so many others, and will work hard to justify their faith in me.”
Among those running against Prang, who currently works in the Assessor office, are John “Lower Taxes” Loew, a deputy in the Assessor’s office who has run for the position several times before; John Y. Wong, who has served as chairman of the county Assessment Appeals Board; John Morris, a Los Angeles County deputy district attorney; Omar Haroon, a deputy assessor, and Krish Kumar, an appraiser in the Assessor’s office. The winner will be chosen in the June 3 primary election.
