The design of a four story apartment building proposed for 1155 Fuller Ave. on the east side of Plummer Park will be reviewed next week by the city Planning Commission’s Design Review Subcommittee.
The building, on property owned by Mohammad R. Etminan, will have seven apartments. It will replace a single-family house now on that lot.
An evaluation of the project by Stephanie Reich, the city’s urban designer, notes that the majority of the buildings on that block are two stories with several three- and four-story buildings.
The building is designed to appear as a series of stacked units, which Reich says gives it a three-dimensional quality. The designer is Bijan & Associates.
The Design Review Subcommittee will consider the project at its meeting at 5:30 p.m. at Plummer Park Community Center, Room No. 5, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd. at Martel
whoever hides behind “raltamiran”: those that disagree with you (pretty much everybody who saw this design) live in “smelly and musty homes” and must now pay money to “come up with a better plan”? LOL
I rather appreciate the new age vision that the developer is proposing to tjis piece of land. Maybe you all can put your money together and come up with a better plan. It takes and old home that houses one family and will place 4 to 5 families that can become a community. Are you all not tired of living in old smelly and musty homes that have been forgotten by the original owners? Here we have a vision, a piece of art and eventually a home for someone who chooses to live in them.
I think there is enough parking, but not enough windows, or big enough windows. It is not a pleasant design, but it seems to be a design that is currently in wide use. Thank goodness, they aren’t really using containers lol. I think the orange one on Formosa is more attractive.
What more can one add. It is cheap and ugly. It is as ugly as the orange one on Formosa but the color is better. I must have a peek at some of the other edifices slapped together by this firm. It can be informative. But in a word. Feh.

Subterranean parking….2 spaces for each…a TOTAL of 1 guest space! The 4th story and a Decrease in rear setback = incentives for including ONE affordable housing unit! i went to the “neighborhood” meeting the other night, along with a total of TWO other concerned neighbors! Next Thursday is the Planning Commission

I agree with all the comments above. I would just add that that Fuller block already has a few ugly apartment buildings so it will be hard to argue that this one doesn’t fit in, except for height of course. I doubt they actually want to build four stories. In order to get approved for three you ask for four and give everyone a chance to show they’ve got teeth.
It looks like someone stacked a bunch of cargo containers together, cut out some small windows and doors and then carved out some landings and outdoor space. I think it fails to take advantage of all the light larger windows could bring. I assume this will be built with conventional materials and the exterior is stucco. And I think it’s definitely out of place in that neighborhood. It appears that the building occupies ever possible square foot with just the legal setbacks. Bunker-like and confused.
Seems a bit over developed for that area of 2-3 story apartment buildings. It’s like the whole mini-mansion debate but with an apt. complex. I think 3 stories is sufficient. I suppose the design is subjective to one’s taste…but it certainly doesn’t fit the neighborhood. I feel bad for the older homes that are slowly eroding away from West Hollywood.
