This Thursday marks the second annual Give OUT Day, a national campaign to encourage financial contributions to LGBT causes.

The Give OUT Day site facilitates donations to various LGBT nonprofits, which users can browse by category, name, keyword and zipcode. For instance, a search of WeHo-area zip codes 90069 and 90048 turns up two participating charities: the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles and the It Gets Better Project.

“One of the best ways to help create longlasting change is to support LGBTQ non-profits for the outstanding work they do in every part of our nation every day. That’s why the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is delighted to partner with Bolder Giving for the second annual Give OUT Day … I encourage everyone to give back, regardless of how big or small, to move things forward,” said Rea Carey, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, according to the news release.

Last year, 5,500 people made donations during the inaugural Give OUT Day event, with a total for $600,000 raised for more than 400 organizations. This year, organizers have set their sights on significantly boosting the amount raised.

“Give OUT Day offers a chance for our country to come together and support the hundreds of LGBTQ groups – community centers, arts groups, organizers, clinics, student clubs, sports leagues and more – that support our diverse and amazing community,” said Jason Franklin, executive director of Bolder Giving. “I’m excited to see the momentum building after our amazing success last year, I’m hoping we’ll raise over $1 million on May 15.”
