West Hollywood is billing its Cityline free daytime shuttle and its PickUp Line weekend night shuttle as the “Pride Ride” for the June 6-8 LA Pride weekend.
Pride Ride will run next Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.; on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., and on Sunday from 3 p.m to 2 a.m. Pride Ride will feature Cityline vehicles before 8 p.m. and PickUp trolleys after 8 p.m.
The free shuttles will follow a continuous loop along Santa Monica Boulevard between Robertson Boulevard and Fuller Avenue, with 16 stops in each direction. Vehicles will arrive approximately every 15 minutes with music that thumps to beat mixes by DJ Derek Monteiro.
The shuttles provide easy, and free, ways to attend major Pride events. This cominig Friday the WeHo Dyke March and Lavender Menace Celebration of Women will take place at West Hollywood Park, 647 N. San Vicente Blvd, south of Santa Monica. A social hour and presentations will begin at 6 p.m. and the Dyke March will begin at 7 p.m.
On Saturday and Sunday the Pride Festival will take place at West Hollywood Park. Saturday hours are noon to midnight and Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday is the day for the Pride Parade, which steps off at 11 a.m. from Crescent Heights Boulevard and travels west along Santa Monica Boulevard just past the main entrance of the Festival at San Vicente Boulevard, ending at Robertson Boulevard.
Pride Ride organizers remind people who are driving from other parts of Los Angeles that there are several Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) bus lines that connect to West Hollywood, including: 105, 705, 4, 704, 217, 218, and 312. More information is available at www.metro.net.
For drivers who wish to “Park and Pride Ride” there will be paid public parking available for $20 in municipal lots such as the Hancock Parking Garage at 901 Hancock Ave., and the Kings Road Municipal Parking Garage, located at 8383 Santa Monica Blvd., which are both on the Pride Ride route.
A downloadable PDF route map with detailed information about schedules and stops is available online. The City of West Hollywood has launched an interactive map of Pride Month events at www.weho.org/pridemap.
