The Hakkasan Group has acquired a majority stake in h.wood Group, the West Hollywood-based owner of nightclubs such as Bootsy Bellows, The Nice Guy, Hooray Henry’s and Shorebar.
Hakkasan, based in Las Vegas, owns nightclubs and restaurants and manages hotels around the world. Among its properties are the Hakkasan restaurant group, with 12 worldwide locations including Herringbone, a restaurant in La Jolla and at the Mondrian hotel in West Hollywood.
H.wood Group was founded by John Terzian and Brian Toll. Its Bootsy Bellows, which opened in 2012 on West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip, has become a major celebrity venue. It was opened in partnership with David Arquette, who named it after his mother, Mardi, a famed burlesque dancer and pin-up girl. Last year h.wood Group opened Hooray Henry’s, at 8713 Beverly Blvd. just west of San Vicente.
Terzian and Toll will remain the managers of h.wood Group.
“We are thrilled to welcome the h.wood Group, and specifically John and Brian, to the Hakkasan Group family,” said Hakkasan President Nick McCade. “Their concepts will be remarkable additions to our portfolio and very complementary to our existing brands including Hakkasan Beverly Hills and Herringbone at the Mondrian. With the acquisition now complete, we look forward to providing capital resources to the h.wood Group as they pursue significant growth both in LA and beyond.”
Hakkasan Group is owned by Tasameem Real Estate LLC, an Abu Dhabi-based investment company.
