Oh, my! It’ll be a geek chic gala for the Los Angeles LGBT Center, which will honor George Takei and Marvel Entertainment at its anniversary celebration on November 8.
“Star Trek” actor Takei—a social media powerhouse and prominent gay activist—will receive the organization’s Vanguard Award along with his husband, Brad. Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and Marvel Entertainment will also be honored.
“As we celebrate the 45th anniversary of the world’s largest provider of programs and services for LGBT people, we’re excited to honor some very deserving super heroes in our movement,” Center CEO Lorri Jean said in a press release.
“George and Brad Takei are two of the nation’s most visible, dedicated and influential LGBT activists. Throughout his four decades of services to Los Angeles, County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has been a fierce champion for LGBT people and strong ally to the Center.
“And Marvel Entertainment, through its award-winning portrayals of LGBT characters and storylines that parallel the struggle to end discrimination against our community, has helped brighten the lives of LGBT kids—and adults alike—around the world.”
The gala will include cocktails, dinner and entertainment, and an auction. It will be held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, 2025 Avenue of the Stars at Constellation.
