A fire ripped through at least two floors of a West Hollywood apartment building today, injuring one firefighter who suffered a twisted knee battling the three-alarm blaze.
The fire was reported at 3:53 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Horn Avenue at the intersection with Shoreham Drive just north of Sunset Boulevard. It was extinguished about an hour later, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The injured firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment. The building sustained extensive damage, but a cost estimate was not immediately available. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
Very happy there was no loss of life. Horn Plaza is not an apartment building but a condominium complex. The closure of Sunset Blvd for hours and the lack of access to the nieghborhood for hours past the incident need to be addressed. The affects of the unnecessary closure were far reaching.
Thank God nobody was seriously injured I live next door! But that traffic jam caused by LAPD was insane, no need to close Sunset! This city needs to get its act together! Learn from NYC

Thank you to the WeHo Fire Department from all of us at Horn Plaza for the amazing, brave and hard work putting out this very big fire. There seemed to be about ten fire trucks, only a few of which were able to park on our street. The firemen and women had to drudge all their heavy equipment up our street – the steepest hill in all of WeHo – and then try to get to the units which were in a very inaccessible part of the building.
