The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s traffic services detail will conduct a driving under the influence checkpoint at an undisclosed location in West Hollywood on Friday from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. In addition to removing intoxicated drivers from the roads, the department publicizes DUI checkpoints in advance to increase the awareness of drivers of the dangers of impaired driving and to encourage sober designated drivers.
The West Hollywood Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has the following safety advice:
• Even one drink can impair your judgment and increase the risk of getting arrested for driving drunk – or worse, the risk of having a crash while driving.
• If you will be drinking, do not plan on driving. Plan ahead; designate a sober driver before the party begins.
• If you have been drinking, do not drive. Call a taxi, phone a sober friend or family member, use public transportation or call one of your local sober ride home programs.
• Be responsible. If someone you know is drinking, do not let that person get behind the wheel.
• If you see an impaired driver on the road, contact law enforcement. Your actions may save someone’s life, and inaction could cost a life.

DUI checkpoints are unconstitutional. It’s Enforcement overreach to make their own lives easier and generate numbers for themselves at the expense of the public’s right to not be harassed when traveling. It is contrary to “innocent until proven guilty”. Its perverting the word “probable” in “probable cause” in order to perform illegal searches on anyone they wish.
This is America, right?
You could also catch a lot more criminals by illegally entering everyone’s home in order to find the one who’s a criminal… it completely violates the 6th Amendment of law biding citizens. I guess no one cares?
