Two people suffered minor smoke inhalation injuries tonight in a fire in a two-story apartment building in West Hollywood, a dispatcher said.

The fire was reported at 8:24 p.m. on the first and second floors of the building at 7546 Norton Ave. between North Curson Avenue and North Gardner Street, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher said. The flames were doused by 8:51 p.m., the dispatcher said.

Maybe next time the first responders will check with you to see if they have the ‘ok’ to respond to an incident near your place.

The report on the local news (NBC4 LA) showed a couple of badly burned apartments. Something obviously happened, whether or not you witnessed it yourself. It is odd that smoke and water wouldn’t be obviously noticeable, but the results of the fire were captured on video. No word was given as to the cause.

Ah yes – I live just across the street. I went out after a neighbor told me there was fire and police in the street. About 8:30. For this fire – which I did not see, the entire of Norton from Curson to Gardner was end to end with County fire trucks. All lit up. I did not see any water to speak of – just a drizzle in the gutter. From Norton and Curson to the North to Lexington police cars were blocking the street – also all lit up.
