Softball Cartel is holding tryouts for the Spring softball season on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Whittier Narrows Park’s Field 4. And from 5 to 9 p.m. it is staging a fundraiser at Micky’s in West Hollywood.
Softball Cartel is a member of the Greater Los Angeles Softball Association (GLASA). That group got its start in 1978 as the Inter-City Athletic Union Softball League, with games played on a field in West Hollywood Park. In 1990, it added a women’s division, which has since grown to over 15 teams. Today GLASA has over 30 leagues with more than 600 athletes playing in Spring and Fall seasons.
Saturday’s tryouts are for the Cartel’s C and D divisions. More information is available from Ken Scearce at BlueSport13@gmail.com and Angel DeLara at JAngelDeLara@gmail.com.
Too bad they took the softball field out of West Hollywood Park.
