WeHo to Recognize Firefighters, a Detective and Security Ambassadors at Annual Event

West Hollywood will bestow awards on two people and one organization on Monday for their contribution to public safety and honor firefighters for an unusual rescue of a dog.

The city’s annual public safety awards will be presented at the Public Safety Commission meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Fiesta Hall in Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd. The award ceremony will be followed by a dessert buffet.

This year’s award recipients are:

• Los Angeles County Fire Department Firefighter Paramedic Sheila Kelliher for the Firefighter of the Year award,

• Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Detective Gregory Paul Boagni for the Lt. James Farrell Deputy of the Year award, and

• Block by Block Security Ambassadors, who will receive an

award for Outstanding Contribution to Public Safety.

There will also be a special presentation to recognize each of the Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters on duty who worked together to help free a dog, Fritz, who became stuck between two structures in West Hollywood. Each of the firefighters who freed Fritz will receive a certificate of recognition and Fritz and his owner will be in attendance.

,,,and i hope you never have a need to call the police in an emergency or life threatening circumstance, but you’ll be glad the cops aren’t carrying flowers and scrunchies to fight the bad guys.
firefighters put out fires, and police mop up the mess left by society’s losers.
my comment may a bit too rough for this site, but i resent the veiled swipe at the police.
just who or what do citizens expect is going to protect them?
arrogant and smug weho residents live in a dream world…latte, anyone?

While the police officers are great and have tremendous respect for them, I must give Ten Stars to the firefighters because they do not have weapons are their sole dedication is to save the lives of people and oftentimes putting their own lives in danger. ALL the best ! !
