Pepper spray was discharged in a room at the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood during a dispute between two people today, prompting a call to authorities.
Deputies and firefighters were sent to the facility at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Olive Drive shortly after 5 a.m., said sheriff’s Lt. Edward Ramirez of the West Hollywood Station.
According to the preliminary investigation, there was a dispute between a man and a woman in one of the rooms, and one of them was sprayed with pepper spray, Ramirez said. The fumes spread to the hallway, and firefighters were summoned to ventilate the area, Ramirez said, adding that investigators were trying to determine if a crime was committed.
The southernmost lane of Sunset Boulevard was closely briefly too accommodate the fire trucks.
