The man found dead at 1001 N. Croft Ave. near Romaine on Friday has been identified as Curtis A.J. Lawson.
Lawson, 23, was found wedged in a fence at that location by a passerby, who alerted the L.A. Police Department.
Lawson’s sister, Patricia Edwards, identified her brother on a Facebook post. That identification has been confirmed by the L.A. County coroner’s office, which said an autopsy will be conducted tomorrow.
Edwards, said her brother recently moved from Los Angeles to Baltimore to live with his girlfriend. Edwards said she had flown him back to L.A. for a visit. Edwards said her brother had suffered a concussion as a child and has acted erratically ever since. The cause of Edwards’ death has not been determined, but his sister said she suspected he was using methamphetamine when he died. She described him as “bright and artistic” and said he played the guitar and the djembe hand drum.
Thank you, Henry E. (Hank) Scott, the founder of WEHOville, for this article about my little brother.
It has been 9 years since he died-
But it will *always feel like yesterday since I last saw his smiling face.

Thanks, James-
The police are saying it was an accident.
Not so sure about that!
Patricia do you have an email or a way I can reach you? I didn’t know him or know anything about his death except that news of it is going around town and twitter and other internet sites. And there might be links to certain things that have been rumored to be going on. Anyway id like to help figure out what happened to him and WHO else is involved, because you don’t just end up there in the fence. I’m sorry for your loss and I would be pretty insane if I lost my sister, my best friend. And… Read more »
Thanks, Sergio- Do you have any more information?
-His Sister, Patricia
I met his sister Friday night, July 24, grieving at the site. She desperately needs to talk to witnesses. If anybody can tell her anything, it would mean a lot to her. I guess you can find her on Facebook. She said she lives in WeHo.
Man wasn’t dead when police arrived.
I have seen so much good happen in my life. If only there was eradication of meth. It is ruining this country.
How sad, yet it seems to be no so uncommon.
Wasn’t Dirk Schaefer found dead of a similar in his car just recently.
Condolences to his family.
So sad to lose a brother. May he rest in peace.
