Two people entered the Balenciaga store at 8670 Melrose Ave. a little after noon today and stole 11 of the famous design brand’s handbags.
Sgt. Joseph Morien of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station said that the burglary occurred at about 12:20 p.m. He identified the suspects, who have not yet been arrested, as a black man and black woman.
Balenciaga is a European fashion house founded by Cristóbal Balenciaga, a Spanish designer, in 1914. Its handbags retail at prices ranging from roughly $1,500 to $2,000, with some sold for as much as $4,500.
Balenciaga’s West Hollywood store is at 8670 Melrose near Norwich Drive.
Dick, nothing you wrote is inconsistent with what I wrote. My definition of robbery went beyond guns – confronting someone and taking things from them without permission, with or without guns, is robbery. Like I wrote. And burglaries, as I wrote, is when items are taken without someone being aware of it happening. Without or without guns, which I didn’t refer too.
You are correct that shoplifting is burglary. In the state of Az, a 2nd shoplift results in felony burglary charges. Here its petty theft w/prior, usually resulting in a 2nd slap on wrist.
There are ARMED BURGLARIES, when no victim is present. And there are robberies when GUNS are not used! Burglary=No Victim Present. Robbery= Victim present. SIMPLE STUFF BIG CHRIS

Burglary is stealing items without force. Robbery is when force/guns/threats/intimidation are employed. A burglary can happen at a store that is open. Shoplifting is a form of burglary.
The store should have opened at 11am….how is this a burglary at noon?
@Disco, regardless of what year they were founded, they are an iconic brand, and a fashion statement that few women or men can carry off; Lee Radziwill could barely handle a Balenciaga Bag. I’ve heard Richard Simmons used one for a “Gym Bag.”

The exact year of the founding of Balenciaga is debatable. I’ve seen 1914, 1918 and 1919, so far.
