Episode 2 of “The WeHoans,” a video series created to alert drivers to utility construction work that has closed LA Cienega Boulevard to traffic between Fountain and Sunset through mid-September, is out.

The three-part series parodies the popular Saturday Night Live skit “The Californians.” Episode 1, released Aug. 12, already has garnered 130,000 views in its first week on YouTube and has been the subject of stories in media as diverse as KPCC and Breitbart News calling out West Hollywood’s creative approach to street closure notification.

The City of West Hollywood partnered with YouTube stars Willam Belli and Bianca Del Rio to get the word out about the street closure with “The WeHoans.” Belli is an actor, drag queen, model and recording artist who rose to fame on RuPaul’s Drag Race in its fourth season. His YouTube channel features his comedic and music-inspired projects. He has a loyal following of more than 500,000 subscribers and his YouTube videos have received over 77 million views. Bianca Del Rio has a dual role in “The WeHoans” as “Roy,” the hapless husband, and as herself, a friend who plans to travel to West Hollywood to visit The WeHoans. Del Rio is an actor, insult comedian, award-winning costume designer and drag queen who is best known as the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Season Six. Episode 2 also includes an appearance by “WeHo Jesus,” one of the city’s more colorful characters.

Episode 2 of The WeHoans can be viewed above or on YouTube, and a link will be available at the City’s website home page. The third and final episode of The WeHoans will be released on Aug. 26, followed by an episode of bloopers on Sept. 2. Each full episode of The WeHoans can be seen on Willam Belli’s YouTube Channel.

The La Cienega Boulevard utility construction work began Aug. 17 requires the full closure of La Cienega Boulevard between Fountain Avenue and Sunset Boulevard for several weeks. Throughout the utility construction work, businesses on the Sunset Strip will be open as usual. Ultimately, the construction will include many street improvements intended to improve long-term traffic flow and will result in intersection improvements.
