A number of streets will be closed in West Hollywood on Sunday to accommodate the 31st annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles.
Sign-in begins at 8:30 a.m. at West Hollywood Park at 647 N. San Vicente Blvd. south of Santa Monica. The opening ceremony is at 9:15 a.m., and the AIDS Walk begins at 10 a.m.
There will be limited street closures throughout the city on Sunday. San Vicente Boulevard will be closed from Santa Monica Boulevard to Melrose Avenue from 6 a.m. on Saturday to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Other street closures, all on Sunday, are as follows:
• San Vicente Boulevard from Beverly Boulevard to Melrose Avenue (east side only) – 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Robertson Boulevard from Melrose Avenue to Santa Monica Boulevard – 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• La Peer Drive from Melrose Avenue to Santa Monica Boulevard – 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Santa Monica Boulevard from Doheny Drive to Holloway Drive – 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• La Cienega Boulevard from Santa Monica Boulevard to Melrose Avenue – 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Melrose Place from La Cienega Boulevard to Orlando Avenue –
6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Melrose Avenue from San Vicente Boulevard to La Brea Avenue – 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• La Brea Avenue from Melrose Avenue to Beverly Boulevard – 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Beverly Boulevard from La Brea Avenue to Flores Street –
7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Beverly Boulevard from Flores Street to Kings Road –
12 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Beverly Boulevard from Kings Road to San Vicente Boulevard –
7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Since its inception in 1985, AIDS Walk Los Angeles has benefited AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), an AIDS service organization whose mission is improving the lives of people affected by HIV; reducing the incidence of HIV infection, and advocating for fair and effective HIV-related public policy.
AIDS Walk Los Angeles has, over its history, drawn more than a half-million participants who have collectively raised nearly $75 million. Participants can register online.
Why did not you post signs in advance on ALL the street closures except for the ONE on San Vicente & Santa Monica?…. It would have too convenient for all of us living in West Hollywood Hills!
