Broken Water Main Floods Apartments on Harratt Street

A broken water main flooded streets and sent water into two apartment units this afternoon in West Hollywood.

The break was reported about 3:45 p.m. in the 1800 block of Harratt Street near Larrabee, according to a fire department dispatcher. The flooded units were below street level, he said. A utility crew was at the scene.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

It’s interesting that it took at least 8 hours to stop the water. The break was reported at 3:45 and when I came home at 10 it was still rushing down Palm. At 7:00 there was only one Weho employee standing on the corner. Beverly Hills Water was no where in sight. When 3 men and a truck showed up they just stood around talking casually. There seemed to be no urgency. We residents were told it was taking so long because they did not know where the shut off was. Really? It was kind of funny that this morning… Read more »
