He never ran for City Council last year (as some rumored he might), but WeHo’s Max Geschwind might well win another prize.

Geschwind is nominated for Best Web Performance by a young actor in the 37th annual Young Artist Awards. Geschwind’s nomination is for a series of interviews on the West Hollywood public access channel of candidates for City Council. Geschwind produced and directed the interviews, which he himself conducted. The interviews are available on YouTube.

Geschwind also is known for “The Milk Effect,” a 10-minute documentary about the legacy of Harvey Milk. In the film, Geschwind, who has interned at West Hollywood City Hall, interviewed all five of WeHo’s council members, as well as four candidates in the state’s 50th Assembly District race. Geschwind’s film was shown as part of the city’s Harvey Milk Day in May 2012 and at Laemmle NoHo 7 theatre in December 2012.

Geschwind, 19, is now a student at Santa Monica College.

Max is a wonderful community resource. He his committed to public service and we are lucky that he sets such a great example of “self empowered” youth.
