As I looked at these renderings, I couldn’t help but ask myself if these were designed by the same architect who did the Movietown Plaza and Domain Buildings currently under construction on Santa Monica because of the similarity in the designs on the facades. This is just my opinion, but man that thing is butt ugly. Also, how did they get away with building condos and not having any affordable housing in the mix occurred to me. OK – I disagree on the building of so much. BUT IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN. I accept it. BUT PLEASE – MY GOD – IMAGE 5 ALONE – REALLY SHOWS HOW AWFUL A DESIGN THE PROJECT IS. Suggestion (I CALL IT A TIP – HAVING LIVED ATOP KINGS RD FOR YEARS – THE STEEPNESS OF THE INCLINE IS ACTUALLY SO GREAT – THAT IF THE HOTEL WERE BUILT WITH THE FIRST FLOOR ON THE FOUNTAIN SIDE AND GOING STRAIGHT UP – IT WOULD HAVE MINIMAL IMPACT ON THE ANDAZ HOTEL VIEW. …and so sad to lose the John Barrymore guesthouse which was the site of the old Butterfield’s restaurant….and it was a lovely old house…..
