West Hollywood’s “Bear-Naked Chef” has taken his popular YouTube series across the Atlantic with the release today of “The Bear-Naked Chef: Travel Edition.”
Adrian De Berardinis launched his sexy cooking video series in December last year. That first episode, which featured a nearly naked Berardinis preparing chicken cacciatore, drew a quarter of a million views within a week. Like Martha Stewart, but wearing nothing but a cooking apron and socks, De Berardinis offered a very professional look at how to prepare that Italian dish without seeming aware that he was “bear-naked.”
The video released today chronicles De Berardinis’s travel to Madrid, the first of three European cities he visits. In this, the first of three 10-minute episodes, he prepares “albóndigas en salsa española,” aka meatballs in Spanish sauce.
“The twist is that I switch up this new format by taking the viewer out of the kitchen for a moment in a flashback sequence to the restaurant where I learned the recipe from on my visit, and show a montage of how they prepare the featured dish in their kitchen,” De Berardinis said. “Then, I return to the kitchen and cook my interpretation of the dish, naked of course…well…in nothing but in a new itty-bitty apron and gym socks.”
The video can be seen both on De Berardinis’s YouTube channel but also on the YouTube channel of Worlds of Wonder, the famed producer of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” It also is on De Berardinis’s website along with his earlier videos.
The audience attracted by De Berardinis’s good looks is one reason for him to cook nearly naked. But, as he explained in an earlier interview with WEHOville, being naked in a video also has another meaning for him. “For me being naked is a metaphor for where I am in my life,” he said. Today, as a gay man, he is comfortable with who he is, which wasn’t always the case. De Berardinis believes that exposing himself to the world, physically, intellectually, emotionally and sexually, is the best way to accept and enjoy who he is.
