Helicopters were spinning overhead, some city streets were closed and residents were warned to stay inside late last night as deputies from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s station searched foir three armed robbers.

gunThe Sheriff’s station got a call around 9:30 p.m. reporting a robbery near Sunset Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard. “Two suspects robbed two victims of their property while they were walking on Sunset Boulevard,” station Captain Holly Perez said in an email to City Council members. “Both suspects displayed handguns. A third suspect was waiting in a gray SUV; both suspects jumped into the vehicle and drove southbound on San Vicente.”

Perez said deputies quickly located the vehicle and followed it. As it turned east on Melrose Avenue, two suspects got out and ran in opposite directions.

One suspect was arrested as a result of the search effort, which included Perez and Lt. David Smith with staff from the Sheriff’s Department’s Aero Bureau and Lost Hills Station, the Beverly Hills Police Department and the Sheriff’s Department’s K9 unit.

“We do not believe any suspect is still in the area,” Perez said. “Normally, if a suspect manages to evade arrest or is not pinned down within the containment, they leave the area as quickly as possible.”

Great job and thanks?
There were THREE suspects and ONE got arrested.
Who was the one? The driver? Catching one out of three doesn’t really call for celebrating. Two bad guys got away.

Great job by our Sherriff’s, but it is shocking to hear about this type of crime at 9:30pm in a highly trafficked location. As we are adding hundreds of hotel rooms and apartment units we need to increase the number of Deputies contracted by Weho in total and per shift. Clearly, we are perceived by criminals as a community “ripe” unprepared for “muggings’ and armed robbery. Adding Deputies and increasing street presence will send a signal that we are taking Public Safety seriously. I believe the cost of a Sherriff’s Deputy is $250,000. per year in total and we have… Read more »

Thank you for your message. Your neighbors and I appreciate what you had to say. This is a quiet neighborhood, and music and noise travels far and easily. (I’m sure you have heard the loud, drunk people looking for their cars during the weekend evenings like we have.) Thanks again for what you wrote. It is much appreciated.

I wish that this “Love No Hate” commenter had respect for everyone in our city including his neighbors. This guy has had music blasting from his home the past few weekends and even week days. He apparently doesn’t care how HIS behavior affects those around him. Sorry, but not everyone on the block wants to hear Barry Manilow blasted through speakers and a microphone. Please show some respect to those law-abiding citizens around you. We know you love and respect Weho. Now it’s time for you to show respect to those near you.

First thanks to our “new” Captain, Holly Perez, Lt. David Smith, amazing leaders. and for all our WEHO sheriffs. We must remember, the more NEW hotels, more new buildings are build in WEHO, Our crime will go up. We are becoming just like ant other city. We must “spend” more of our money on our public safety, we keep spending millions of dollars on Parking Garage, WEHO Park to “look good”, But we forget very important issue, the more crime will take place in our city, less tourists less people will be going out and spend money, and as we… Read more »
